We recognise that consistency in management and staff teams is vital in providing excellent support for the service users. All the homes have a high staff ratio to meet the complex needs of the service users.

Each home has its own manager and staff team; the larger homes also have deputy managers. The managers and deputies are experienced in supporting people with complex needs and managing staff teams.

There is low staff turnover and staff stay with Progress Housing an equivalent of 10 years.

We aim to recruit staff who are friendly, engaging and enthusiastic. All recruitment procedures meet CQC standards and all staff have an enhanced DBS check in place prior to starting work with us.

To ensure that service users are supported consistently by staff who know their needs, we do not use agency staff.

Staff training is a priority.  Staff are inducted to industry standards and undertake training common to the sector including Learning Disabilities, Safeguarding Adults, First Aid, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, Dols, Mental Capacity and Medication.

In addition staff are trained to meet service user specific needs e.g. Epilepsy, Challenging Behaviour, Communication Skills and PEG feeding.

Staff are encouraged to undertake Level 3 QCF Diplomas  in Health and Social Care and 85% of staff have or are working towards Level 3 or higher. All managers are qualified to NVQ Level 5.

Progress Housing is a small organisation which values accountability. The General Manager and Proprietor both work at the Nursery Lane location and are available 5 days per week.

"Progress Housing is an organisation which puts person centred care at its heart. It is able to do this through investing in its staff and I have delivered training to Progress Housing staff since its inception. I am always impressed at participants values and attitudes and their motivation to learn and transfer learning into practice. All this is whether they be new to the care sector, new to just the organisation or one of many long serving team members.
Delivering training at Progress Housing is a pleasure especially in the knowledge that it is informing excellent care."
